Who is Floyd Duncan?

I can give you all the standard bio stuff, but you'd probably be bored out of your mind, so I'll stick to the basics. I have a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, a Master of Business Administration, and a Ph.D. in Economics. I have been associated with the United States Army for most of my adult life—both active and reserve, mostly reserve. I spent a year in Vietnam with the First Infantry Division and attended almost every school the Army offers, including a year as a resident at the Army War College. Overall, I'm a fairly well educated guy—mainly because I enjoy school more than work!

A younger, thinner me, serving in the Republic of Vietnam.

I mentioned earlier that I am a college professor—a Professor of Economics and Business at the Virginia Military Institute, to be exact. That's right, VMI—the school in the news a few years ago for waging a legal battle to remain all-male. After millions of dollars down the tubes for legal fees, we lost. Women now attend VMI in fairly good numbers, and they are doing quite well—and the place hasn't gone to hell!

What else can I say? Oh yes—family. I'm happily married to the same woman I started with, and we have four children. Two are still in college and two are finally off the payroll. My daughter, the oldest, has her own family—a fine husband, a daughter who just turned three years old, and a second daughter born on November 26, 2000. OK, so now you know; I'm a grandfather!

My oldest son is also on his own—in fact, he's my Web Master!

If you’re really curious, I have a few pictures of the family in the Photo Gallery.
